Dealing with deprivation: The BSOSS approach

A roof over the head is the basic need of any individual living in a society. Homelessness is induced by Extreme poverty. Most of the homeless people are where they are because of the apathy of the government and civil society. It is a social issue nonetheless a governmental issue. It is high time, there was a paradigm shift in the mind of a civil society and government as well.

Against this backdrop “Banamali sahitya seva sangathan” took up the cudgels to rehabilitate the homeless people with its meager resources. Narahari Dalai, a destitute resident of Jenapur, Jajpur used to live in a tattered hut which he called his home, facing the ravages of rough weather. This attracted the notice of the volunteers of Banamalli Sahitya O Seba Sangathan. Due to lack of resources and the physical impairment, Narahari was unable to repair his hut nor could reach out to government agencies. Under the situation Banamalli took a step forward and repaired his hut with the help of aid by generous civil society members.

While entering into his new home the smile on the lips of Narahari expressed his gratitude to this organisation. Banamalli look forward to turn this small effort into a revolution, so that there will be no another Narahari enduring this ordeal on this planet.
